Promoting contraception

I was just looking some HACCP standards and they talk about capture fisheries and barely even mention aquaculture. For some reason that made me think about aquaculture and capture fisheries and environmental groups. Personally I think that capture fisheries have been completely abused and severe restrictions should be put on them, which would help fuel aquaculture. Not only would it help fuel aquaculture but it would help raise the price of those products thus making the regulation (i.e. more animal/environmentally friendly) of those products and their production facilities economically feasible (much of the time, especially in third world nations its pretty expensive to implement some of those types of measures).

But even more important is demand. Almost all products, ag products not being an exception, are produced when the are demanded. Much of the increasing demand (especially for basic products) is due to population increase (and increasing gluttony but one thing at a time). I think that many of these environmental groups should of course continue what they are doing but also make part of their efforts stemming population growth. There are just too many people now, and they all want food so they resort to unsustainable farming practices, or take more hand outs from over producing (or severely subsidized, usually both) western nations. People, reducing the number of people and many of the environmental pressures will be reduced.
